Lily Collins Circling Evil Dead Remake?
Lily Collins, daughter of singer Phil Collins, is continuing to prove herself to be one of the young actors to watch in 2012. Her first major motion picture was The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock, but once she won the part of Taylor Lautner’s love interest in his action spectacular Abduction, her name began to really spread. She appeared in Priest, she has a Snow White project competing heartily with Snow White and the Huntsman, set to star Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth, and she recently won the coveted role of the main character in the City of Bones adaptation. Is a horror film also in her future?
You remember the Evil Dead, don’t you? Sam Raimi’s cult classic featured the legendary Bruce Campbell and first hit in 1981, the same year I was born. The fun starts when some young people head to a secluded cabin. Then all hell breaks loose. Hey, this sounds a bit like another Chris Hemsworth project, the Cabin in the Woods, which is coming soon from Geek god Joss Whedon and also set to feature Amy Acker and Jodelle Ferland. But if Cabin in the Woods is the final word on movies of this genre, one sure to be a twister, then Evil Dead was one of the first flicks to venture into this territory.
At any rate, according to BD Horror News Ghost House and Mandate Pictures are hard at work on a re-make of the classic tale of horror. Filming will begin in New Zealand this coming March. How is this for a twist, however? Brcue Campbell’s character Ash may just get a make over. They say Lily Collins is being looked at to revive Ash, this time as a chick.
All I have to say is that I sincerely hope Bruce Campbell does a cameo.
Fede Alvarez will direct from a screenplay co-written by himself and Rodo Sayagues. Believe it or not, they got a little help from Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody. Rock on!
