Miranda Lambert on Law & Order SVU
It’s always a fascinating transformation to witness when a musician takes a stab at acting, as is the case with country singer Miranda Lambert, who has been signed on to play a role in an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU. This will be Lambert’s first time acting outside of music videos for her songs, and I’m excited to see if she has any hidden acting talent. With musicians, they can go either way when trying out acting. Sometime they surprise you with just how good they are, and others make you burst out laughing at how terrible they are.
Lambert’s part on SVU is, according to TV Guide, as an actress. So she’s a country singer turned actress playing an actress. Awesome. In the episode, Lambert’s character claims to have been sexually assaulted by a reality show producer, to be played by Michael McKean. The big question in this scenario will be, who’s lying? Someone has to be. I’m just speculating on this next bit, but Lambert is currently married to Blake Shelton, who happens to be a coach on fellow NBC show, The Voice. Is it possible Lambert got the SVU gig because of her relationship with Shelton? It’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility.
In addition to Lambert’s casting, it was announced at the TCA Press Tour Harry Connick Jr. would be playing a love interest for Mariska Hargitay’s, Det. Benson in a four-episode arc. I’m guessing the love won’t last. TV show romances rarely do. Sigh.
