No New Selena Gomez Tunes in 2012

As her fans surely know, some major changes are in order for Miss Selena Gomez this year. 2012 marks the end of her magical Disney series, Wizards of Waverly Place. In fact, for her, that set will go dark and you’ll see her playing Alex Russo once last time, come January 6th. Acting may just be the young celeb’s new focus. One thing is for sure, 2012 won’t be about her music.

As you will hear in this new video, Selena Gomez is ready for a break. That means The Scene gets a siesta also. “My band and I are going to chill on that for a second,” she tells MTV.

In this regard it seems most appropriate that Gomez and her bestie, the “Unbroken” Demi Lovato, said farewell to 2011 in song during their New Year’s special.

She segues from there to explain just how excited she is to be debuting two new films this year. As Boomtron faithful know, the edgier picture is called Spring Breakers. There’s nothing Disney-like about it, either. Gomez will play a criminal along side the likes of James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts. Selena says it’ll be “more raw” material than her fans are used to seeing her perform.
