SHERLOCK Season 3 is Solid

Sherlock BBC

This past Sunday saw the finale for Sherlock, BBC’s modern interpretation of Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes, and the question on everybody’s minds is, “Will there be a third season?” Apparently, the answer was given some time ago, only nobody bothered to tell the fans! It seems they were waiting until after the Season 2 finale to give the extremely comforting news that Sherlock will be back for a third season next year. I’m so happy I could laugh and cry at the same time.

The crafty Steven Moffat, the co-creator of Sherlock as well as the current creative head of Doctor Who, revealed via his Twitter account the joyous news, saying “Yes of course there’s going to be a third series – it was commissioned at the same time as the second. Gotcha!” Dang it Moffat! Don’t play with us like that! Here we were, fearfully nursing the idea the series might not be renewed for this reason or another. There was no logical reason to think there wouldn’t be a third season (other than the Brits having a tendency to end their series on strong notes rather than dragging them out for years like America does), but it’s hard not to feel a little worried. But that worry was for not, and thank goodness for that.

Though the seasons are short, with three episodes per season, each episode itself is essentially a 90-minute movie. In this format, they can get the most out of their stories while not over saturating the world with Sherlock Holmes. I can hardly wait for Season 3, but wait we must.
