THE SKY IS EVERYWHERE for Selena Gomez
The best actors are truly versatile creatures. They wow us with their flexibility, adaptation and diversity of roles. Now that a young Selena Gomez is focusing on her acting and giving her music a little break, she seems to be discovering her own versatility. Her new role, for a film called The Sky is Everywhere, sounds very different from the part she’ll play in Spring Breakers.
While Spring Breakers promises to be a gritty tale of girls behaving badly, where Gomez will co-star with James Franco and Vanessa Hudgens, Gomez’s latest casting news is something more tame and more dramatic. According to Collider, Justin Bieber’s fairer half will star in a film adaptation of the Jandy Nelson novel titled The Sky Is Everywhere.
The story unfolds as Gomez’s character, Lennie, loses her older sister, Bailey. Lennie is quiet and resigned, while Bailey was bright and exuberant and constantly in the spotlight. After the death, Lennie finds herself in a bit of a love triangle with Bailey’s boyfriend, Toby, and Joe, the new boy in town who happens to be very “musically gifted”.
The picture sounds as if it could draw young adults already in Selena’s fan base and provide a stage for flexing some dramatic acting muscle. It sounds like a good opportunity for her career.
