The Sound of Skyfall
It’s been a long time coming so the newest film in the James Bond franchise, Skyfall, isn’t holding anything back. In addition to an impressive cast loaded with big names, the movie will now have music provided multi-award-winning composer, Thomas Newman.
Skyfall will be hitting theaters just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bond, and Michael G. Wilson, along with Barbara Broccoli, want to make sure the movie is a feast for everyone. We have Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, and Ralph Fiennes providing some major star power, the premise of the film hints at learning more about Bond’s boss, M, and for the first time in a long time, gadget guru Q will be back in action.
With great actors and what appears to be a solid story in place, attention was turned towards the auditory aspects of Skyfall, and 007.com, the official James Bond site, recently revealed that award-winning composer Thomas Newman has been chosen to take over musical duties from David Arnold, although Arnold will still be involved with the 50th anniversary of Bond.
Newman has composed the music for over fifty films and TV series, including four of director Sam Mendes’ films, but this will be his first time with Bond.
