For its upcoming fifth season, True Blood sought out relatively unknown British actor, Giles Matthey, to play a mysterious person of interest in Jessica’s (Deborah Ann Woll) already complicated life. When I say “relatively unknown,” that’s an understatement. Matthey’s only film credit, according to his IMDB page, is a small part in a recent episode of The Good Wife. But don’t think his small resume means he’s not good for the part, he’s just an untapped (and attractive) talent!
The way E! Online tells it, Matthey will play the recurring role of someone known as Claude. If you know your history of the Southern Vampire Mysteries novels True Blood is loosely based on then you should be aware of who Claude might be. If he is to be the same person that appears in the fifth novel, Dead as a Doornail, then he is the twin brother of Claudine, Sookie’s fairy godmother. Of course, True Blood rarely follows the source material, so this version of Claude could simply share the name and be a completely different character. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Certainly his role in the season will be strikingly different than that of the novel. In True Blood he will serve as a new attraction for Jessica. Makes sense right? He’s good looking, mysterious, and British! That’s like the best combination of awesome right there. He’ll make his first appearance in the third episode of Season 5 and will apparently be “omni-sexual,” whatever that means.
