American Horror Story Season 2 – Jessica Lange will Return

American Horror Story FX

Ever since Ryan Murphy revealed American Horror Story’s second season would feature a new setting with only a few of the first season’s cast returning, speculation has been flying around the Internet on who might sign on for Season 2. As luck would have it, Murphy finally let slip the name of an actress who will for certain play a role in the horror series second outing, one that will likely be completely different from who she played in Season 1.

TVLine reported Murphy’s confirmation that Jessica Lange, who played the religious and morally ambiguous Constance in the first season, would be back. He also mentioned he is in talks with four of Season 1’s cast to be in Season 2, and none of them are members of the Harmon family. This means that Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott and Taissa Farmiga are all not returning. I’m not surprised about Britton or McDermott, but Farmiga was a standout cast member and I’m sad she’s moving on to other projects. Now who could these other four be? Out of the remaining regulars it leaves only Evan Peters and Denis O’Hare, so that must mean at least two of the actors in talks were recurring or guest stars. Maybe Kate Mara or Zachary Quinto will come on. I’d be happy with that.

Murphy left us with one last nugget of information, this one regarding where Season 2 will be set. He said it will take place on the East Coast in a “horror institution.” Any ideas what that might mean?

Kate Mara just signed on for the show House of Cards, so there could be scheduling conflicts depending on when that shoots.

‘but Farmiga was a standout cast member and I’m sad she’s moving on to other projects.’ I agree. I hope her next project gets her as noticed as Peters- fan wise that is. Although she has the biggest following on twitter, even above breckinridge.

Honestly assumed Farmiga and Peters were a given for S2, since they were the ones people created the most buzz about. No suprise with Murphy and his lacking brain skills.
