Cannavale Comes to Boardwalk Empire Season 3
Emmy Award winner, Bobby Cannavale, has been tapped to fill a void in Boardwalk Empire’s third season; a void that was once filled by Michael Pitt. Fresh off a ten-episode arc on Nurse Jackie and filming Lovelace, Cannavale has been hired on to be a series regular and will serve as a new challenger to Nucky’s (Steve Buscemi) empire. I’ve always been wary of Cannavale. He has a ruthless face. Nucky needs to watch himself around Cannavale’s character. With a face like that, you do not mess around. And just whom is Cannavale playing?
According to Deadline, Cannavale will play Gyp Rosetti. As with most men during the time period Boardwalk takes place in, Rosetti is a gangster, and a cutthroat one at that. I told you didn’t I? That face of his just screams bad guy. I would not want to be caught in a dark alley with him, especially if he’s dressed up in his gangster gear. I’m willing to bet he gives Nucky a real run for his money. It’s a shame really. Nucky’s not the most likeable guy, but does he really deserve the amount of competition he’s been getting, especially in Season 2?
I have a really good feeling about Cannavale’s casting. It’s not a good idea to judge an actor by his face (it puts them in a box), but I can’t help and feel he’s a good fit. Doesn’t he kind of look like he could be a gangster? Picture him with a fedora and a classy gun. Totally a gangster right there.
