ENDER’S GAME Movie Adds Viola Davis

Ender's Game, Viola Davis, The Help

One of my favorite actors has just joined the cast to a very high profile sci fi adaptation. Get ready Ender’s Game fans, to welcome Viola Davis to the family.

She had many award nominations for her role opposite the first lady of drama, Meryl Streep, in the critically acclaimed picture, Doubt, but it wasn’t until this awards season that I’ve felt Davis has finally started to get the attention she deserves. She’s currently a nominee for the Oscar for Best Actress, joining Meryl Streep again, this time as a peer in the category for different films. Her nom came for her role in The Help. Streep’s nom is for The Iron Lady. Streep is just about impossible to beat any time she’s nominated, but that’s okay, so long as we get to see more Viola, and today’s news suggests that we will get to do just that!

Davis has lot’s of upcoming projects now and among them is Ender’s Game, where she’ll bring to life a a military psychologist who gets to play mother hen in a fashion to child trainees according to a press release. Her A-List co-stars already include Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Ben Kingsley, and Harrison Ford.

Who knew Viola might eventually make it to the convention circuit!? I wonder if she’s a fan of science fiction. Amazingly, the actress has also been added to the cast of the adaptation of a newer paranormal young adult novel. Look for the news right here about her role in Beautiful Creatures.

Viola’s other credits include Out of Sight, Nights in Rodanthe, Distrubia, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. She appeared on Entertainment Tonight last week describing her own real life brushes with prejudice growing up in Road Island.
