Gina Carano – Who Will She Punch Next?

Gina Carano, Haywire, In the Blood

I’m a fan of MMA fighter-turned-actress, Gina Carano. I couldn’t wait to see her first major starring role in Haywire on its opening night and afterward, though it wasn’t the greatest picture ever made, I was on pins and needles, hoping to hear she’d be cast in something else soon. Well, the day has come. A star is born. Carano is circling a new big screen gig.

The film is called In the Blood, according to THR, and is described as an action thriller to be directed by John Stockwell. His previous credits are Into the Blue and Blue Crush. The picture is already being described as similar to Liam Neeson’s hit, Taken. The story unfolds as a husband and wife vacation in the Caribbean. The husband goes missing and the wife, possibly signed on for soon by Carano, chases after the bad guys.

Scoot over Angelina Jolie. A new action femme has arrived. Another interesting element of the film will be the way Gina’s character must deal with her own violent past. I imagine she’ll be asking herself if it is okay to let the monster out of the cage, so to speak, simply because her world has been ripped apart. Not that many could blame her. You know what they say about a woman scorned.

I hope Carano likes the role and signs the dotted line. 8711, the stunt team that worked with the actress on the set of Haywire, is also being sought to possibly come on board to In the Blood.
