Mila Kunis as The First Lady?

Now that Oprah Winfrey is no longer a talk show host on daytime TV she is beginning to delve in to different projects. Once such project is a feature-film called The Butler. The films comes from Precious director Lee Daniels, and will be the story of Eugene Allen, a black man who worked as a butler in the White House from 1952 to 1986. Winfrey would be co-starring as Allen’s wife of 65 years if she decides to take part in the project.

The film would span Allen’s 34 years at the White House and originated from Wil Haygood’s 2008 Washington Post story A Butler Well Served by This Election. THR reports that Haygood’s story is “focused on Allen who started at the White House as a “pantry man” in 1952, when blacks weren’t allowed to use public restrooms in his native Virginia. He ended up serving eight presidents and had a unique front-row seat as political and racial history was made, from the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement to the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy.
” Haygood’s story was published just after the election of President Obama.

As the film would cover quite a bit of history, Daniels is trying to assemble a cast that would best represent these iconic figures. Among the rumoured cast are names such as John Cusack who would be playing Richard Nixon, Mila Kunis as former First Lady Jackie Kennedy, and Huge Jackman in a yet unspecified role.

Seeing Kunis play Jackie Kennedy should proved to be quite interesting. Since Kunis has more abrasive characters under her belt (Max Payne, Black Swan) portraying the famous female Kennedy will be a bit of a switch up for the actress. Jackie Kennedy has a certain grace to her which hasn’t been present in the characters Kunis generally plays. Perhaps signing on as Jackie will show us all that Kunis is actually a very well rounded actress who can slip into any role without difficulties.

Since The Butler is still in its early stages of development, fans of Kunis will have to wait some time before they can see her as Jackie Kennedy. For now, be sure to catch her in her upcoming films, Tar and Oz: The Great and Powerful.
