Paget Brewster Done With Criminal Minds

As fast as she returned to the popular crime series, Paget Brewster is leaving Criminal Minds permanently. This may come as a shock to some fans that were expecting her to stick around after her character, Emily Prentiss, came back from the dead and rejoined the rest of the cast as a regular. We were only just getting used to her being back! How can she just pull the rug out from under us like that? What kind of heartless monster would do this to her adoring fans!?

Wow, okay. That got heated. Let’s bring this down to a more tolerable level. Yes, Brewster is leaving us, but it’s been something she’s wanted for a long time. Last year she was allowed to leave to shoot a pilot and if that pilot had been picked up she would have been gone a long time ago. As it turned out, nothing came of the pilot and ABC Studios exercised their option to bring her back for another season. Brewster wanted to do another pilot this year, but this time wasn’t given the go ahead. According to Deadline, since her contract was going to be up this year, she decided now was a good time to move on to other projects. She gave six years of her life to Criminal Minds and shouldn’t owe them anything.

Brewster said she fully enjoyed her time on Criminal Minds and the cast and crew wish her luck on her future ventures. I wish her luck as well, and can’t wait to see what she ends up doing next.
