Supernatural Gossip Girl Cast as Oliver’s Queen

Green Arrow CW DC Comics

The CW loves to reuse actors and actresses in its many hour-long dramas, and this latest casting news revolves around a certain actress who has appeared in three: Supernatural, Gossip Girl, and Melrose Place. In this case the lady in question, Katie Cassidy, isn’t being tapped for another role in an existing series, but instead has been cast in one of the CW’s many upcoming pilots. If you can guess which one it is on the first guess I’ll make sure to announce your victory for the entire world to hear.

Cassidy was cast, according to TVLine, in the CW’s adaptation of the DC Comics superhero Green Arrow. The adaptation, simply called Arrow (I know, I hate it too), is starring Stephen Amell as Green Arrow and his alter ego Oliver Queen. Cassidy will be playing Dinah “Laurel” Lance, a young attorney for the City Necessary Resources Initiative. She’ll have a romantic past with Oliver, which is an accomplishment I applaud Oliver for. She is one shmexy number. Also starring in the pilot is Susanna Thompson as Oliver’s mother, as well as David Ramsey as an ex-military/special forces dude working for Oliver as security. That must be fun.

Arrow is being executive produced and written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg. David Nutter is attached to direct. As we should all know, this isn’t the first DC Comics property to be adapted by the CW. For years the network aired Smallville, which followed the life of Clark Kent before he became Superman.
