Taylor Swift not more Miserables than Samantha Barks
Brace yourself Taylor Swift fans, because this may strike you as bad news. As you’ve probably already heard, the golden-haired songstress was one of the hopefuls for the role of a lifetime. The part is for Eponine, a legendary character to be featured once again, this time in a major motion picture.
Tom Hooper is bringing his version of Les Miserables to the big screen and it was starting to look as if Eponine might go to Taylor Swift, while the lead role of Cosette could go to Amanda Seyfried. Today, we’ve learned differently. Samantha Barks will play Eponine. After all, life is a Cabaret!
The headline hit BroadwayWorld.com when they learned Samantha Barks won the role. In fact, they said Barks was a pro. It is, after all, the same role she played during a 25th anniversary concert of Les Mis.

In fact, the news was announced on stage, following her performance in another show, Oliver!, live at the Manchester Palace. Barks has been playing Nancy. Later Barks would Tweet that receiving the good news was the “Most incredible moment” of her life.
Even the very popular Lea Salonga, who acted as Fantine when Barks brought to life Eponine is reported as exclaiming, “It’s official” and “Yes, yes, yes” and “Thank you, casting gods!!!” I think if Salonga is pleased with the choice, then that’s good enough for me!.
