Topless Jennifer Aniston Pulled from Wanderlust?

The usually very extroverted Jennifer Aniston has come down with a case of shyness. Since her breakup with Brad Pitt in 2004 Aniston has been showing off bits of flesh in magazines and in some movies however, with the release of her newest flick Wanderlust, Aniston is changing her mind. In the film, Aniston and Paul Rudd are a couple from Manhattan who suddenly find themselves unemployed. The start to seek out an alternative living situation and find themselves on a rural, free-love commune.

TheWrap is reporting that the former Friends star has demanded that the topless scene she filmed for Wanderlust be replaced with a tamer version. A spokesperson for Universal Studios, who is releasing the film, said, “The scene was shot a bunch of different ways, and we have the best possible version.” The scene causing all the ruckus features Aniston going topless in front of TV news cameras. The version which will be shown in the film has a back view of Aniston going topless, with her bare breasts shown blurred out on TV screens as they would appear on an actual TV news broadcast. A source for TheWrap said the scene was initially edited with the frontal nudity in it, but Aniston pleaded for an alternate version instead.

So why would Aniston who seems quite comfortable in her skin ask for the scene to be edited? Sources are indicating that she made the request due to her blossoming romance with new boyfriend Justin Theroux, who just happens to be co-starring in Wanderlust with Aniston. It seems she has decided that it would not be right to share her nakedness with anyone except her new flame. When asked about the change in the scene, Aniston’s publicist, Stephen Huvane said , “The scene is how it was always supposed to be,” and denies that it was altered at the actress’ request.

Wanderlust was filmed last year before Aniston and Theroux were romantically involved. When the actress was questioned about the nudity and the film at that time she seemed to have no problems with the topless scene, “You do get nervous when there’s a day where it’s oops, I’m naked. I wouldn’t go topless for a cause, going to such an extreme to make a difference. But we’ve been among these people in this environment for almost two months. The topless scene was nothing compared to what happened in the two months prior.” Now that Aniston and Theroux have become serious – they are living together – she felt more uncomfortable with her new beau seeing a movie where she was topless in it. Perhaps she should have been thinking about that when she posed for Rolling Stone and GQ magazine. The actress also has a semi-topless scene in the comedy Horrible Bosses where her breasts were covered by an open lab coat.

So before we all jump on the “she did it for her boyfriend” train we should think about all the bits of flesh she has, and still continues to flash to the media and audiences. After all, stirring up controversy over a film only makes it more popular.

Catch Wanderlust in theatres this February 24th.
