WALKING Dead Season 3 Governor!

The Walking Dead AMC

The Walking Dead is still airing its second season, but that hasn’t stopped it from looking for new cast members to join the record breaking series in Season 3, with the first person already cast as the widely popular character the Governor. Ever since the first season, fans have been chomping at the bit for the Governor to make his appearance, with some firmly believing the character of Merle Dixon was being set up to become a new version of the character. Of course, the creative team did not have that in mind for Merle, but at long last we know the Governor will be apart of this adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comic book series.

TVLine reported David Morrissey had been chosen to play the dangerous rival to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). He’s the leader of a large group of survivors living inside a gated community. It’s possible the survivors Rick, Hershel and Glenn ran into during the last couple episodes are a part of this community. For those who are familiar with the comics, I don’t need to explain just how crazy the Governor is. For those that only know the TV show, I won’t spoil the fun of discovering his cruel nature.

Season 3, which was given a 16 episode order, will begin production this spring. With the Governor cast, I can’t help but hope we’ll be seeing another fan-favorite character, Michonne, as well as the prison Rick and company hole up in. It’s nice to hope for these things, but The Walking Dead has been quite different from its comic book counterpart. There’s no telling which direction it could go.
