Girl, Interrupted for American Horror Story 2?

American Horror Story FX

For American Horror Story’s second season, a character has been created who will function as a sort of homage to earlier Angelina Jolie movies, specifically Girl, Interrupted and Gia. The earlier films in Jolie’s career are, strictly in my opinion, immensely better than the movies she’s putting out now. The characters she played were way more interesting and I can totally understand why Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk would create a character modeled after those roles.

TVLine reported American Horror Story had begun casting for this character, who will serve as a villain to Jessica Lange’s new incarnation. All we know so far about this villainess is her name is Gia and she’s a “fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot who harbors a secret.” The casting notice specifically suggests all hopeful actresses should “think Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted.” Any interested actresses should be in their mid-20s and Caucasian.

It’s good to know even though American Horror Story is abandoning the ghosts of Season 1 they’re still clutching on to the crazy sexuality it covets so much. Whoever ends up being cast in the part had better play well opposite Lange. If they don’t feel like enemies when they’re on screen together then the story just won’t work. Production won’t begin until mid-July, so there’s plenty of time for a suitable actress to be found. Now that we know who the bad girl will be, does this mean Lange’s character will be something of an angel in comparison? Her last character, Constance, demonstrated serious moral ambiguity, yet we’ve been told Lange will be someone who is the opposite of Constance in Season 2.
