When I first heard FX had renewed Justified for a Season 4, the first thought in my head was, “Thank goodness I just finished catching up on the entire series! Now this news directly affects my happiness!” And affect me it did. I have been on cloud nine ever since Nick Grad, the executive vice president of original programming over at FX, released the statement announcing the renewal. Somehow the world is just a better place with Marshal Raylan Givens out there protecting us from the bad guys.
The fourth season will consist of another 13 episodes, just like all the previous seasons. The current season still has five episodes left to air and will conclude on April 10th. The renewal is well deserved as Justified wins in all three important categories: it receives accolades, it’s critically acclaimed, and it brings in viewers. Currently it is one of the best TV series out there. More likely than not, we will be watching Justified as long as everyone involved wants to continue making it. Hopefully that will be only as long as it remains good!
If you’re unfamiliar with Justified, allow me to sort of explain it. The series was developed by Graham Yost and was based on the U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens character that appeared in Elmore Leonard’s short story, Fire in the Hole. Timothy Olyphant stars as Raylan, who is forced to return to his hometown in Kentucky. The show manages to pull in 4.3 million viewers on average this season, which is up 8% from Season 2.
