Mad Men Season 5 Has Another Boss

Mad Men AMC

It looks like AMC’s Mad Men has found itself a new boss to walk around and make decisions about what goes where, who can go for lunch, and whatever else that bosses do to encourage or discourage their underlings. Of course, it’s worth noting that I am not talking about a new character within the show itself. Fictionally Mad Men will have the same amount of bosses as it did before. No, this new person of authority is someone who exists in the real world, and you already know him quite well: Jon Hamm.

TVLine reported Jon Hamm would be receiving a producer credit beginning with the first episode of Season 5. The promotion came along with the three-year deal he signed with AMC. So not only is he acting and directing this season, but now he’s producing! He truly is a man who can do it all. I wonder what its like to be Jon Hamm. I bet it’s amazing. I imagine this will give him more authority when it comes to creative decisions in the writers room, but who’s to really know for sure what he’ll be able to do.

It’s not an uncommon occurrence for an actor, particularly one this important to the life of a series, to be given a producer title. However, this is the first time this has happened at AMC. I’m not at all surprised Mad Men is the first series for the network. Mad Men is kind of spoiled, which is saying a lot. AMC is notorious for slashing the budgets of its most popular shows. But they adore Mad Men.
