Margarita Levieva from Revenge to HBO’s Luck
HBO’s Luck has a second season on the way and it will see some minor changes to the cast, most notably the inclusion of Revenge’s Margarita Levieva. Currently she is recurring on ABC’s drama, Revenge, and will recur on Luck as well. The show follows Dustin Hoffman, as Ace Bernstein, after finishing a three-year term in federal prison. Upon his release he begins to seek control of the Santa Anita racetrack so he can introduce gambling there. The show has been well received and almost immediately was renewed for a second season following the series premiere.
Deadline reported Levieva’s casting, saying she would be playing Sarah Israel, the brother of Nathan Israel (Patrick J. Adams), and would have a major part in the season. No word has come up on how she will play into things aside from her relation to Nathan, so it’s hard to guess what she’ll bring to the table. I’d like to say we should trust the judgments of the writers, but the show is still new. We shouldn’t assume it knows best just yet. Remember The Killing? That show started off so promisingly and then train wrecked so magnificently. I can’t help but laugh when I think about it.
Also changing is Michael Gambon’s status on the show. He plays Ace’s rival, Mike Smythe, currently in a recurring capacity. However, beginning with Season 2 Gambon will be upgraded to series regular. As a fan of Gambon, I’m excited he’ll be getting more screen time. In the meantime, we still have three episodes of Season 1 to get through before we can seriously concern ourselves with Season 2.
