MARVEL’s Venom Set to be Chronicled?

venom marvel comics

Venom is one of the darkest characters to ever grace the pages of a Marvel comic book. Fanboys and girls have been salivating over the idea of a Venom film for years and yet the closest we have come has been the Topher Grace performance in the third Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man flick of 2007. Don’t get me wrong, I want to give some cred for how chilling the black, toothy entity was for featuring in a PG-13 movie, but true fans want to see more. Get ready, because that dream may be one step closer to reality.

We reported it right here when the world was about to be introduced to Josh Trank. His gritty super hero movie, Chronicle, was on the verge of taking America by storm and we learned that if that storm hit the box office just right, the director would get a shot at making another installment of the Fantastic 4. Hey, that’s a nice prize to be won, but there’s nothing quite like launching a spin-off involving such a cult character as Venom, don’t you agree?

Well, according to the L.A. Times, Sony isn’t content with simply rebooting The Amazing Spider-Man this summer with Andrew Garfield in the lead. The studio is currently in negotiations with Mr. Trank to revive hopes for a Venom spin-off film. This, True Believers, is very good news.

I hear, at this point, Topher Grace is not being sought to star. No offense, but that’s good news, too.

Trank is only 27-years old, but his “little” movie, Chronicle, took home $60 million. Welcome to the world of blockbuster super hero films, Mr. Trank. We hope you’ll stay a while. When we learn more, you will, too!
