Danai Gurira as Michonne in Walking Dead Season 3

A few days ago EW released a look at fan favorite and The Walking Dead season 2 closer Michonne, portrayed by Danai Gurira, though when we saw her she was rocking the hoodie. While the AMC adaptation of The Walking Dead has taken some liberties with the source material from the Kirkman IMAGE comic, the co-creator of he book added “The essence of the character — her personality, her motives, everything that makes Michonne — remains intact from the comics” – which should make readers very happy.

Television fans certainly tuned in, with the season 2 finale raking in records numbers of AMC. Gurira hasn’t been in a ton of roles but fans of HBO’s Treme may recognize her from her role as Jill. For more glimpses of what’s to come, last week we got an early video featurette for The Walking Dead season 3′s first episode, the kickoff of a 16-episode season this fall. Along with Michonne, we will also be introduced to another fan favorite in The Governor, portrayed by David Morrissey.
