Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Lands ex Kingpin

In the Sons of Anarchy Season 4 finale, we saw Tig run over and kill a woman who turned out to be the daughter of notorious gangster Damon Pope, and we’ve just learned who will playing this pivotal role in the upcoming fifth season. Surprisingly, its not someone I would immediately associate with the crime world, but that mostly has to do with the actor’s previous roles. With that in mind, it’s a good thing they’ve cast someone you might not immediately think of for the part. It means we’ll  be getting a different performance than we’re used to, which is never a bad thing.

And the man that’s been tapped to play pope is none other than Lost’s Harold Perrineau. TVLine reported the actor’s casting, which was the second major casting for Season 5 of Sons of Anarchy. The first was the casting of Jimmy Smits for the season-long arc as Neron “Nero” Padilla, a Latino gangster who will serve as an unlikely mentor for Jax, who has taken over as leader of SAMCRO. But back to Pope; the man is described as being an ex-drug kingpin, which might mean he’s not in the crime business anymore, or at least not as heavily involved as he once was.

Still, even if Pope has become an average citizen, he’s still a gangster deep down. And now that his daughter is dead, he’ll be out for blood. This will certainly complicate things for Jax and cause a lot of trouble for SAMCRO. Plus, it’s Harold Perrineau! He’s a great actor, even when he’s running mindlessly around an island screaming, “Waaaaalt!” I’m excited to see him play what is bound to be a career-making role. Seeing him on a revenge kick will likely be a highlight of the season. Any bets on if he’ll kill Tig by the end of his run of the show?

    Don’t really care what he does to Tigs as long as he keep his hands off my baby CLAY. This man is so Bad,Good,Sexy,Talented,Hot,And sadly Happily Married but he makes me droll every time he appears.Ron Perlman is just the whole package.Love you Clay.
