Grimm Season 2 – a LOST Coyotl Coming!

You would think Mark Pellegrino would grow tired of being the guy always playing these supernatural-type characters – he’s best known for his roles on Lost and Supernatural – yet here we are, about to delve straight into the news of Pellegrino’s latest acting gig on NBC’s Grimm, where he will be once again playing a supernatural character. One of these days Pellegrino is going to take a look at his recent choice of jobs and realize he needs to change things up a bit. Maybe take a stab at being a doctor on Grey’s Anatomy, or a plaintiff on Franklin & Bash. Just try something a little blander is all I’m saying.

Still, when Grimm Season 2 premieres this summer – Monday, August 13th to be exact. – Pellegrino will be dropping by for an episode as Hank’s high school friend, Jarold Kempfer. TVLine reports Kempfer shows up when his daughter goes missing, but here’s the real kicker: Kempfer is a coyotl – essentially a coyote-like creature – and Hank has no idea. What started as a simple missing persons case will turn into a Grimm investigation. I think it’s safe to assume the daughter’s disappearance was a direct result of what she is. It seems like too much of a coincidence to be otherwise.
This is the third former Lost cast member to visit the sets of Grimm. During the first season, Titus Welliver turned up as Farley, the Grimm with the ability to turn into a steinadler, and Daniel Roebuck appeared as Lt. Olson, an arson cop investigating some fires. With that kind of history, Pellegrino should feel quite at home. And I wasn’t serious about him trying different roles. The truth of it is Pellegrino has been around for a long time and has played virtually every role imaginable. These supernatural and fantasy shows are about as challenging as they get for TV actors. How else are you going to play the immortal protector of a magic island?
