NCIS Season 10 – Palmer Gets A Promotion After Eight Years

After eight long years of dutiful service, NCIS has seen fit to promote one of its faithful recurring characters – Brian Dietzen – to series regular. I would argue this is a long time coming. It may not even be much of an argument. Can anyone really say Dietzen hasn’t put in enough time as Jimmy Palmer? After doing eight years as Ducky’s medical examiner assistant, he certainly deserves an acknowledgment for his hard work. As it would happen, Palmer may be getting a similar promotion in the big scheme of NCIS. It all depends on how the show intends to resolve the Season 9 finale.

According to EW.com, Dietzen’s promotion could see his Palmer character with more responsibility. We know Palmer shook off his wedding plans to head back to D.C. to help out the team, but everyone else’s fates were left unknown. In specific regard to Ducky, he was left alone on a beach after suffering a heart attack. Should he survive, he won’t be in much condition to head back to active duty right away. Palmer may have to step up to the plate for a while, which would explain the promotion. Despite the less than joyful situation this increase in need for Palmer has come about, Dietzen is over the moon over the news.
Like I’ve mentioned, Dietzen has spent eight years as a recurring character, so to finally have the consistency of a regular position is something to get excited over. This bump in status means Dietzen will finally be given a spot in the opening credits. Now that’s something you can put on your acting reel! I just hope this isn’t his only season as a regular. You never know these days. He could find himself demoted back to recurring next season or NCIS could be canceled, however unlikely that last one may be.

about freaking Time Brian gets a spot in the opening credits! Myself and a friend always felt that he should have had a spot there ages ago. Palmer RULES!
