Spartacus Season 3 Starz Teaser – War of the Damned

It seems like it was only a couple weeks ago Spartacus: Vengeance wrapped up, and now we’re already hearing about and seeing footage for January’s Spartacus: War of the Damned. Where did the time go? Is it just me or does this seem a little early to be promoting a show that won’t even be airing for seven months? Then again, as long they’re showing are favorite gladiators slicing the heads off their enemies while riding a horse then there really isn’t any need to complain. The only real downside is it gets me so excited for the series’ return, and then I realize I still have to wait seven months!

True to Spartacus form, the 30-second teaser for War of the Damned mixes simple yet powerful words, such as “Armies will clash” and “Wars will rage,” with total badass imagery of a single horseback rider – I’m assuming it’s Spartacus himself – cutting down his enemies. This is about as good a teaser as you can get for how early into production the series must be. And considering War of the Damned will be the last season for Spartacus, you can bet this is only the tip of a very large iceberg. We haven’t even scratched the surface of what is to come for STARZ’ flagship series.
War of the Damned will be introducing new villains for Spartacus and his gladiator warriors to take on, including the long talked about Crassus and a young Julias Caesar. Be prepared for more blood, sex, and violence than has been seen on Spartacus. It’ll be a shame to see it go when the season is over, but hopefully it will inspire similar series. Television needs more grand epics like Spartacus and Game of Thrones. Sure, they’re extremely expensive, but they are worth every penny. My one request is that STARZ spreads out the promotional teasers. It’s too early to oversaturate the populace with trailers and the like.
