Zoe Aggeliki Heating Up for Catching Fire as Johanna Mason in Next Hunger Games?

Last week we told you that Catching Fire, the sequel to this year’s The Hunger Games starring Jennifer Lawrence as bow-wielding Katniss was closing in on filling a significant role, that of Johanna Mason. The two names mentioned at the time were Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki, a report that was updated a few days later with the word that Wasikowska was not in contention, but Sucker Punch actress Jena Malone was. That updated report didn’t mention Aggeliki, which is not too surprising because of the two Wasikowska would definitely be considered the name to follow up on, having a much more substantial career thus far (having been the lead or having significant roles in several recent films of some magnitude).  As luck would have it, however, it seems that the very hot Zoe Aggeliki’s name is once again bubbling up, possibly as the favorite to assume the role of  the axe-wielding Johanna  Mason.

Deadline reports that the swedish/french model/actress is currently in negotiations with Lions Gate to do just that. Their report does, once again, mentions/confirms Malone still being a factor,  but that Aggeliki is the one fielding the most interest from director Francis Lawrence after her audition. Of the three actresses, Aggeliki is definitely the one we know least about, but she definitely has the looks department down, and did nab a role in another speculative fiction sequel as Silena Beauregard in the Percy Jackson sequel, Sea of Monsters (which is slated to comes out in August of 2013).

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is hitting theaters in November 2013
