Shocker! Nickelodeon in for a second season of The Legend of Korra

In what is probably the least shocking news we will get in the animated world this year, Nickelodeon has ordered a second season of The Legend of Korra, the triumphant animated sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender. Of course, we aren’t even through with the entire first season of Korra yet, with Season 1, book 2 probably headed our way next year, though not official date has been sent. We still have 14 full episodes – comprising book 2 – to go in season 1!

The season 2 The Legend of Korra order is for 26 episodes and EW reports that the season will also likely be separated into books, namely 3 and 4. Show creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have previously stated that half of the second book (first season) will be in Republic City and the other half will take place in other areas of the world.
Nickelodeon was getting around 3.8 million viewers for the first part of Korra season one, and made the move to continue the series. The original Airbender series, chronicling the adventures of Aang, ran for 3 seasons and 61 episodes.
