A trio of new casting additions to The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones have been announced, and at least two of them will be familiar to people alive and consuming entertainment in the U.S., while the other seems to be Asian eye candy for the ladies, or anyone who eyes handsome dudes.

CASSANDRA CLARE’S MORTAL INSTRUMENTS – PANGBORN AND BLACKWELL FOUND

Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones, has locked up the role of Jocelyn Fray, the mother of the Lily Collins’ character, Clary Fray. Jared Harris, Lane Pryce on AMC’s Mad Men, has been tabbed for the role of Hodge Starkweather. According to Clare, Harris seems just the right actor for the role:

“Hodge is also a really complicated character. He’s not entirely bad, not entirely good. He’s a brilliant man led down a bad path a long time ago and he can’t turn back, but he does love those kids he tutored … I think (Harris will) really nail Hodge’s moral dilemma.”

Godfrey Gao has landed the role of Magnus Bane, which sounds like he should be beating up either robots in North Am and/or breaking Batman (perhaps at the same time), but actually has an even hipper sounding gig as High Warlock of Brooklyn. I’ve never heard of Godfrey until like 20 minutes ago, but what I have gathered is that he makes people swoon, including Clare.

CASSANDRA CLARE’S MORTAL INSTRUMENTS CASTS JEMIMA WEST AS ISABELLE LIGHTWOOD

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones stars Lily Collins and Jaime Campbell Bower and is scheduled to hit theaters on  August 23rd, 2013.
