Once Upon a Time Season 2 – Let’s Give Jorge Garcia a Job!

Once Upon a Time ABC

Once Upon a Time is a very unique series, while at the same time completely unoriginal. Coming from former Lost writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, Once has unique access to the large vault of Disney movies, bringing them all into its epic world of fairy tales, while at the same time giving it’s own twists to the stories, such as changing the Beast in Beauty and the Beast into Rumpelstiltskin. Not only is it borrowing from Disney, Once has heavily modeled itself after Lost, taking advantage of its flashback structured storytelling. Once has even brought in a few Lost alums for guest roles, and are hoping to bring in some more.

According to TV Guide, Horowitz and Kitsis have their eyes on Jorge Garcia for a role in Once’s second season now that his show, Alcatraz, has been canceled. If he is given a job on the show he would be the third Lost actor to appear, following Alan Dale as King George, and Emilie de Ravin as Belle – de Ravin was just promoted to series regular for Season 2. Garcia is a fun actor, but I’m not sure I can see him in as any particular fairy tale character.. He’s too much of a comic relief actor, though he does have dramatic capabilities. However, there are many fairy tales out there, including ones that weren’t made into animated Disney movies. Garcia could be given a part from one of those other stories.

For Season 2, Kitsis and Horowitz already know a few of the Disney characters they will have appear: Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Mulan from Mulan, Ariel of The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin and Jafar from Aladdin. Kitsis can see Naveen Andrews – another Lost cast member – as Jafar. I wouldn’t mind seeing the likes of Rapunzel or Pocahontas. Wouldn’t it be great if Josh Holloway played John Smith? I’m sure they could find a part for just any of the old cast of Lost if they’re imaginative enough.
