Superman: Man of Steel Movie Teasers – The Voice of Our Fathers

Two Superman: Man of Steel  teasers have hit the web! While I wasn’t at last week’s Comic Con this doesn’t seem to be completely the video that some reported to see at SDCC, though several bits of footage do match up with that I’ve heard about (the boy in his cape etc). The two teasers below are identical beyond the narration, one which is voiced by Russell Crowe who plays Jor-El, Superman’s biological father, and the other is by Kevin Costner, who plays Jonathan Kent,  the adoptive father of the kid who would become Superman.

Henry Cavil is our newest Clark Kent, and Superman: Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder, though the little bit of footage we see reminds me almost of a Christopher Nolan-esque (who produced the film) Batman Begins-like origin for Clark. While these bits don’t show the big action that I FINALLY want to see in a Superman movie – after the last film’s  Harold & Kumar guy beating of Superman set the character’s tough card back 60 years – I find everything else about the tone of the tease, mindful that it is just that, a tease, to be terrific. It feels modern and as long as Superman can pouch someone in their face as hard as he can in the movie, that’s a profound step in the right direction. Another would be Darkseid.

Joining Cavil in the cast with the aforementioned Crowe and Costner are Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, and Christopher Meloni. Superman: Man of Steel flies back into theaters on June 14, 2013.
