Supernatural Season 8 – A Little Liane Balaban for Jared Padalecki

Jared Padalecki’s Sam Winchester is getting some more love in Supernatural Season 8. Liane Balaban has been cast in the recurring role of Amelia, who by the sound of it is a victim turned (or returned to) cool chick, as Amelia’s character is described by the CW as “a tragedy-damaged soul” and “soon reveals herself to be a brave, sweet, smart, sarcastic woman.” This being tv, and since we are talking the brothers Winchester, she’s also easy on the eyes – Dean would haven’t it any other way, I don’t think.

Liane Balaban has appeared in such films as Last Chance Harvey and Definitely, Maybe, as well as appearing in a couple episodes of Syfy’s Alphas, and dropping in on  Numb3rs, Covert Affairs, and NCIS: Los Angeles. I’m actually a season behind with Supernatural (I watch it as seasons get added to netflix – I rarely never watch anything as it airs, sorry) so this casting means something about some people I’m with in the seasons I’m watching, but I guess I will learn later  the details of their demise! My first impression on seeing various images of Balaban was that she kind of resembles Sam in a way (maybe it’s the hair, but facial features too, I think). But that may just be me.

Supernatural season 8 will kick off on October 3rd and the premiere is directed by Dean Winchester himself, Jensen Ackles.  Also, remember, the adventures of Sam and Dean are moving from last season’s Friday slot to Wednesday nights.
