The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Tease – Gandalf is Walking!

Peter Jackson took to the The Hobbit’s official facebook page to reveal a poster for An Unexpected Journey, the movie that will chronicle the first half of JRR Tolkien’s pre-The Lord of The Rings adventures of some of the characters you are already familiar with, mostly Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins, and many you will meet for the first time. Speaking of Gandalf, Ian McKellen is back and the wizard is front and center in this poster released for San Diego Comic Con.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens later this year on December 14, with the second half, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, following in 2013. Joining McKellein is Martin Freeman as Biblo, who will also be joined by – at least the voice of – his Sherlock teammate Benedict Cumberbatch, who will voice both Smaug the Dragon and The Necromaner (who is Sauron for the trilogy for all of you non-readers). Also, dwarves. Lots of them. Also making her Middle-Earth debut is my LOST girl Evangeline Lily, who will play and elf named Tauriel that is not on the text, but has to be a a bit of a badass because shes head the of the Elven Guard, and if you haven’t noticed, the Elves can kind of get down.
