Maggie Smith and Shirley MacLaine in Downton Abbey Season 3 Teases

Downton Abbey is my favorite current show on television (along with Archer, which hits two opposite ends of the spectrum) so I can’t wait for season 3  to get here, having watched and rewatched several times the first two seasons – it’s on constant loop on Amazon Instant for me. That puts me on the hunt for anything Downton related popping up, including these couple of short teasers, one from PBS,  both featuring a high profile newcomer to Downton Abbey, Shirley MacLaine. As you probably already know, MacLaine has been cast as Martha Levinson, Lady Cora’s mother.

This season 3 promos offer up a glimpse of what  looks to be quite the titanic pairing, with MacLaine entering the dominion of Dowager Countess, played by Maggie Smith, who should win the Emmy or my head will explode (unless Joanne Froggatt, also nominated, wins – Downton also has 2 actors nominated on the male side as well.)

We also know of others joining Downton Abbey this season, as Lord Grantham has some new help in the form of MyAnna Buring and Simone Lahbib. Downton Abbey returns to the UK next month, which means a long time for me before it hits netflix or amazon instant for me.
