Lucy Lawless Chemistry with Ron Swanson of Parks and Recreation?

Parks and Recreation NBC

Parks and Recreation has made the applaud-worthy decision to cast Spartacus’ Lucy Lawless for its fifth season. Now, before I get into the specifics of the casting, I just want to lament a tad on how difficult it was to find a picture of Lawless from Spartacus that didn’t prominently feature her naked breasts. I know what you’re thinking, “Why not use a photo from something other than Spartacus?” I’ll tell you why! I want the most up-to-date/most relevant images for my news posts, and Lawless just finished her final season of Spartacus, which just so happened to include an impossible amount of nudity. But now that I’ve gotten this off my chest, we can move on to what really matters.

According to TVLine, Lawless will have a multi-episode arc as a new love interest for Ron “F**king” Swanson. This is good. It’s been a while since Ron has had someone he could have something more than just a one-night stand with. Lawless will play Diane, a single mom in Pawnee with a problem in her neighborhood. Rob and Andy are sent in to help her and Andy takes notice of the chemistry brewing between Diane and Ron. Is it just me, or does Lawless seem like a good fit for Ron? He’s a man’s man who needs a strong woman, and you can’t get much stronger than the woman who played Lucretia on Spartacus. Oh, and let’s not forget the many years Lawless starred in Xena: Warrior Princess.

I’m hugely looking forward to this romance in Season 5, which premieres Thursday, Sept. 20. I don’t think it will be a lasting relationship, but, as I said, it will be good just to give someone for Ron to be involved with for a while. And if she ends up sticking around, you won’t hear me making a single complaint. They should make her tough enough to take on the Tammys!
