Mad Men: Elisabeth Moss, January Jones and Vincent Kartheiser Signing New Deals

It’s now that time when the people responsible for bringing us Mad Men sit down with the series’ actors and actresses to hash out new deals in order to keep them and their characters on the show. Sometimes it’s a long and painful process, while other times things move along at a brisk pace and you’d hardly even know negotiations had taken place. In the case of January Jones, Vincent Kartheiser, and Elisabeth Moss, the latter scenario is the best way to describe working out their new deals. While I’m glad to see Kartheiser and Moss eagerly signing back up, I’m a little stunned Jones is still kicking around.
According to Deadline, all three cast members signed new two-year deals with Lionsgate TV that will see them through Seasons 6 and 7. A hefty salary increase is believed to have been part of the deal as well. Moss’s signing should be more than enough to squash any remaining rumors that she may not be around for Season 6, a thought that came up after her character quit Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. Jones continues to stump me with her presence, as she only seems to be needed whenever we spend time with her and Don’s daughter, Sally. Outside of those scenes, there was really only one episode in Season 5 that gave her any significant storylines. Hopefully she’ll have more to do in the next couple of seasons, otherwise they’re just wasting an actress.
There still hasn’t been any word of Christina Hendrick’s new deal, but I’m sure that one is close to being signed as well. A similar deal seems likely in her case. Series star Jon Hamm signed a three-year deal last year to keep him on until Season 7, believed to be the show’s final season. His salary was said to be eight figures. Not too shabby Mr. Hamm, not too shabby at all.
