The Mentalist Season 5 Hosts Many Returning Faces Including William Forsyth

The Mentalist CBS

Season 5 of The Mentalist is in the business of bringing back familiar faces in order to shake things up a little bit for some characters while possibly allowing a little closure for others. The biggest and best return to the show is William Forsythe reprising his part as Rigsby’s gangster biker of a father. Their conflicted relationship will be a main point of Episode 4, where it will come to a head. One would not call this reunion a happy one, which is a shame, but perhaps when everything is said and done they’ll end on good terms. Don’t expect to see Forsythe beyond this single episode as he’s starring in Fox’s new drama, The Mob Doctor.

Also poking their head back into the thick of things is Samaire Armstrong, as reported by TVLine. Armstrong will appear in Episode 10 as her prostitute-turned-CBI, Summer Edgecombe. She’ll be a pain in the ass when she involves Tim Kang’s Cho in a very difficult situation. This either means Summer informed Cho with bogus information, compromising him, or she gave him information on something big that’s over his head. Either way, Cho may be in for some trouble. Also returning this season is Gregory Itzin as Virgil Minelli, Michael Gaston as Gale Bertam. Pruitt Taylor Vince as J.J. LaRoche and Malcolm McDowell will cameo as Bret Styles, the leader of the Visualize Self-Realization Center Church.

In new casting news, we will be meeting Jane’s daughter for the first time despite her death at the hands of Red John. Dove Cameron will play her in Episode 2. The writers are being very tight-lipped on how she will be introduced. Context is important, whether it’s a flashback or a dream, and the episode will rely heavily whichever way is chosen. You can bet it will be a big episode for the fifth season, which has enough on it’s shoulders already as it’s 100th episode will be celebrated at some point.

About Brody Gibson

+Brody Gibson studied film in Vancouver, BC. I originally intended to become a video editor, but realized I have a passion for writing. To say I love television is a bit of an understatement. I watch it religiously, think about it constantly. To be able to talk about it is one the best things in the world. Combining that with my love of writing gives me the opportunity to express my opinions to the Internet masses and start gripping conversations.

I’m thinking your assumption about Summer’s return is false. She isn’t his CI anymore, and she’s been living in Seattle. There’s so many more things they could do with her return. Your either/or doesn’t exactly make sense in the context of where they left their relationship.

The actress playing Jane’s daughter is a teenager,so i guess we can rule out flashback.I guess she will appear in Jane’s hallucinations,as how old she would have been if she wasnt killed.
