The Office Casts Majandra Delfino For Dwight’s Spinoff

The Office The Farm NBC

Whether you want it or not, The Farm – that planned spinoff of The Office – has started piecing together its cast, starting with the roles of Dwight Schrute’s sister and nephew. Is it unsettling to realize just how close we are to seeing this thing hit the air? Yes, but we can get through this together. There’s still a chance the spinoff won’t make it past the backdoor pilot. Unfortunately, we will still have to sit through that pilot, which will serve as a regular episode of The Office. It will air sometime this fall as part of Season 9 and will introduce the new characters of The Farm.

As reported by TVLine, Dwight’s sister Fannie will be played by Majandra Delfino (State of Georgia). Having severed ties with the Schrute family, Fannie moved to Boston, where she got married and divorced. Now she’s a single mother, looking after little Cameron, who will be played by Blake Garrett (Bridesmaids). Fannie will serve as the normal one in the Schrute family, boasting an ironic sense of humor and a great heart. Her son will have the unfortunate luck of finding father figures in his uncles Dwight and Jeb (still not cast). Hopefully he takes after his mom and rejects the weirdness of the Schrute family.

Both Delfino and Garrett will guest star on The Office and will be series regulars on The Farm should it be picked up for a first season. The Farm will follow the Schrute family after inheriting the family farm/bed-and-breakfast. They’ll decide to give life a shot working on this farm and I could not care less. Usually I just ignore spinoffs, but this one is just so hard to pretend it doesn’t exist. It hurts my head that anyone would think this would be watchable. Dwight is hardly the most stable character of The Office. I can’t imagine him carrying his own series.

About Brody Gibson

+Brody Gibson studied film in Vancouver, BC. I originally intended to become a video editor, but realized I have a passion for writing. To say I love television is a bit of an understatement. I watch it religiously, think about it constantly. To be able to talk about it is one the best things in the world. Combining that with my love of writing gives me the opportunity to express my opinions to the Internet masses and start gripping conversations.
