Supernatural Season 8 – Misha Collins Back, Castiel and Dean in Purgatory Flashes!

Seems like the season 8 Supernatural promos just keep rolling in! Yesterday we brought you the return of the Winchester brothers - Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles - via a clip from the season premiere and now we are following it up with an image gallery from the second episode, titled “What’s Up Tiger Mommy?” This has to be a welcomed tease for fans of Misha Collins and his portrayal of fallen angel/god Castiel who we only got the faintest glimpses of in an initial video teaser.
BONUS EDIT! – we now also have the image gallery for Supernatural “Heartache” (8.03), the episode after this one!
It looks like we are getting Purgatory flashbacks of Dean, Castiel, and a new face on the show played by Ty Olsson, a vampire named Benny. Dean and Castiel got zapped to what looks like the fairly unpleasant place at the end of last season. From what we can gleam from yesterday’s clip (link above), they probably had to kick all kinds of butt to survive and get out – they certainly look all kinds of rugged in the images. I’m thinking a Winchester, a fallen angel, and a vampire could do a lot of damage anywhere, and maybe we will find out what Dean meant about Castiel not making it.
Just so you’re not getting ahead of yourselves, along with that clip mentioned above, we also shared the full batch of images from the season premiere as well – check out the looks at “We Need to Talk About Kevin” if you haven’t already.
Supernatural hits The CW again on October 3rd.

If Castiel does NOT make it, never escapes Purgatory and eventually disappears/is killed off, it will be the last straw for this fan; someone who has watched the series since season one. I watched as “Supernatural” nearly fell apart in seasons six and seven because of poor creative decisions, one of which was the horrendous decision to kill off Castiel at the beginning of season seven (thank heaven he returned). If we got Castiel back near the end of season seven, only to have him killed off or disappear again in season eight with Dean suddenly getting a vampire as a BFF, then I’m finished with this show. I have no desire to see an angel replaced by a vampire. This isn’t “Vampire Diaries” or “Twilight.”

Oh my god! Thank you, I could’ve not say it better. Castiel deserves a good storyline. I’m waiting for Oct.10 and see what the heck they are going with it. I just want my amazing angel back full time and I don’t like Benny-_-

I know this show started out as just two brothers and their lives fighting demons, but when Cas arrived the show completely changed and I think for the better. Cas is the integral character that rounds out the cast. He is the foil for both Dean and Sam and it is unfortunate that so many see his character as nothing but cannon fodder. I would have lost interest in this show were it not for Cas adding the extra layer of dimension. He is the aspect of Heaven to balance out the Hell. I would have a very hard time watching the show without him. Cas deserves to be there all the way to the end.

i get why you guys are upset about cas, but why are you hating on benny? you don’t even know the guy yet. i just hope that castiel doesn’t leave and benny doesn’t replace cas.

In previous interviews with Carver and Michaels it has been said that Misha will appear in a “minimum” of 8 episodes, and “at first” we will only see Cas in the form flashbacks of Purgurtory. I may be jumping to conclusions, but by that wording it sounds like we may have Misha/Cas at least until the end of this season(possibly at least a portion of that time in present day). So I am going to hold out hope that he will be on the show for some time to come(fingers crossed).

Castiel – forever my favourite. I hope he will be ok.

I’m just hoping that Dean’s purgatory storyline remains Dean’s and isn’t handed to Sam or another character, or dropped, as the show seems to love doing. Dean deserves a storyline of his own and this sounds good.
I’m sure Cas will be on more often than not, and I’m ok with that. I like Cas and I like the relationship between Dean and Cas. Hopefully Carver will return the profound bond.
As for Benny, he sounds interesting and there is no reason why anyone should replace anyone, it’s a story, and different characters are needed to make the story more interesting. No need to wipe everyone out just because someone is afraid of a character replacing another.
Characters, good characters, add to a story and both Cas and Benny have their own stories to add to make Supernatural a much richer show than it’s been the past 2 1/2 seasons.

Apparently god has hope for Castiel otherwise he would not have resurrected him. So I wouldn’t worry too much about his storyline. It seems to me the writers have a good story line going for Castiel already. I’ve watched him evolve from a naive soldier to a rebellious angel, and a failed god. I don’t understand why other viewers can’t see how interesting it is that Cas was powerless when confronted by Eve and now he is trapped in her old home. I’m sure the writers are going to find this situation rich with possibilities
Anyway I happen to know Collins moved up there to be closer to filming and he’s signed a contract so for that alone I know he’ll be part of the show in the future.

I still think those winged desasters should return to heaven and stay there never to return to earth.
But since MishasMinions are a rather vocal Twitter and Facebook crowd not to mention a very often an extremly rude bunch of girls, the impression lingers that every Supernatural fans is automatically a Castiel fan.
It ain’t so!!!!
I rather have Bobby back from the dead then seeing trench-coat guy again and again for no good reason. After “Swan Song” each and every Castiel apperance was more boring then the one before.
BTW didn’t everyone predict ratings would drop to a bottemless pit with out Castiel? Well…didn’t happen last season, and the show it still on air. So, do we really need a redundant character on a show always tight on the budget? I doubt that.
But if Supernatural can waste money on a redunant character, hopefully we get to see said character finally punished for all his transgressions, like assuming the name of God, nearly killing Sam by breaking down the wall that kept the hell memories at bay, and what about the genocide in heaven?
All that was forgiven with a few Lucifer hallucinations? I don’t think so!

Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions of course but you have to admit that Castiel has done great things for this show, and even for Dean’s character. I don’t find any of his appearances boring, personally, I rather like all of them. He’s an hiliriously awkward angel, who’s gone through emotional hardships just like Dean and Sam. He doesn’t “make” the show, but neither do Dean and Sam themselves – there’s been tons of supporting characters throughout seven, going on eight, seasons, all of which are amazing (with the exception of a handful but hey, even Supernatural isn’t perfect). Cass has also helped Dean grow as a character in his own way. Sure, MAYBE Dean could’ve grown without him, but he DID grow with and because of Castiel. Castiel is important to the storyline, to Dean’s personal, emotional one too.

Well, I’m not a MishaMinion. I’m not on Facebook or Twitter. But I love Castiel.
Why do I even care about Supernatural? Castiel. Will I watch it without him? No.
Do I claim to speak for “every” Supernatural fan.? No.
Funny how the poster above me is griping about fans of Cas/Misha when she’s the first person to post here to denigrate other fans and funny how I am exposed to this sort of haranguing all too often when I follow a link to read about a character that interests me.
Personally, if a character bores me, I don’t bother to hop over to an article covering him or her.
While seasons 6 and 7 were huge disappointments, in my opinion, I’ll give season 8 and Jeremy Carver a chance. He seems concerned with trying to tell a cohesive tale, which needs to address the angels. Cas, especially, cannot just be “dropped” at this point just to satisfy the hatemongers since the story itself demands an explanation for why he has been continually resurrected. (Whether or not Misha/Cas remains a castmember/character due to outside concerns does not negate the issue.)
I anxiously await Cas’ first scene in the new season. Purgatory, here we come.

I like Cas, but all you guys who will only watch it for him don’t seem to get the he is NOT the star of the show! The show is mainly about Sam and Dean! And if you don’t like them, why don’t you wait until Misha has his own starring vehicle and watch that?
I’m sorry I don’t mean to sound rude, but it does irritate me that some Cas fans expect his character to take over and the Winchesters play supporting characters to him. Jared and Jensen are the two stars, Cas is a supporting character and I do agree he added something special to the dynamic but after he did all those horrible things to the boys, he was ruined for me. Taking Sam’s hallucinations are not enough to redeem the character, it’s gonna take a whole lot more time. But even if and when he is redeemed he will STILL be a supporting character, not the star.

If you really don’t mean to sound rude, then please don’t put words in my mouth or “guess” that I must not like Sam and Dean because I watch for Cas and he is my favorite. Sometimes supporting characters appeal to me more than main characters do. Shocking!
Harry Potter wasn’t my favorite Harry Potter character (and, yeah, I get he was the main). I think Rowlings has even said Harry Potter wasn’t the overall fan favorite. So, your point?

And to those who thought Sam and Dean were boring without Cas, that wasn’t because of them. It was because the writers decided to stop writing anything good for the characters. J2 had nothing much to work with. It looks like now maybe, we will finally get good writing for both Jensen and Jared again like in seasons past. I definitely do want Cas to have an interesting arc too, but as support to the Winchesters.

I believe possibly Dean did something to castiel in order to get out of purgatory. With dean and sam trying to close hell for ever I think the two archangels that are trap down there will be free again, also with God name use a lot I think he will show in a finale (John winchester).

Will castiel have a major role?
Definitely….
Anyway,
i have a theory when carver said that he’ll make a story-arc that will lead to the final season, season 10….
I’ll give you guys one hint about my theory :
“Main Antagonist : Chaos(The Father Of All Pagans)”

Somehow i agree with “bring back john”……
I think somehow sam and dean will remember that their half-brother is still in that fiery pit, and they’re gonna postpone their plan so they can find a way to help their brother first, but
as always,
since when the winchester are ever lucky?
As the result for trying to save Adam, i think those two Archangel are gonna come back too……
You guys know what i mean, right?
Bring Back John

Thanks, it’s just there are many unexplained parts throught supernatural such like who brought back Castiel after he was presumed dead. Even though Jeremy said he was going to lay off the heavy mythology so he could have more seasons of supernatural. I just believe when the end comes the one and only person who should end this is God. Which by many he does exist, he just didn’t want to be found in season 5. I say so much that John could be God’s true vessel because of the similarities of Sam (lucifer) and Dean (Michael). Jefferey Dean Morgan himself said that he would love to come back to supernatural and prove people his character isn’t bad. In total John only return 1 time and a half, in All Hell breaks Loose and Long Distance Call (voice only). Jefferey is busy everyday with other shows and movies he never get the time to make a return to supernatural, But I think John’s time will come, I want to see how Dean would react.

I’m kinda intrigued with the Benny storyline but the idea of him “replacing” Castiel sickens me. There’s some hate for Cass out there where people are happy Castiel’s gone – again – and miss the days when it was just Dean and Sammy but in all honesty, Castiel has done great for the over all storyarch of Supernatural. Not only is Misha Collins absoultly amazing, but Castiel is such a great character. (And I’ll try not to say anything about shipping, but Season Gr8 is doing great things for Dean and Castiel’s relationship in general.) 6 More days until Season Gr8!

Don’t you guys get it…..
Benny isn’t gonna replace Cass….
Benny is Dean’s Ruby…….
Know what i mean??

This season is gonna be like season 4……where dean remind sam about ruby, and look what happen for not listening to Dean, Lucifer was released…..
I think this season is gonna be like that. This season, i think sam is gonna warn/remind dean about benny, and dean’s not gonna listen to sam………..as the result
a chain of motion that similiar to the end of season 4 is gonna happen in this season…..
I think Benny is gonna have a connection to The Main Antagonist(Big Bad) for next season………
If with that Ruby’s situation that i’ve been explaining, Lucifer was released…..
What you guys think would happen with Benny, what Major Bad situation/event that’s benny benny gonna cause???
Sorry for my languange, i’m new!!
