Elementary Grabs Callie Thorne and Lisa Edelstein

Elementary CBS

Elementary is certainly making a solid effort at casting its guest-starring roles for its freshman season by going out into the world and finding some truly great talent. All I have to do is mention the names Callie Thorne and Lisa Edelstein and you should immediately know who they are and what they’re famous for. Thorne is currently starring in USA Network’s Necessary Roughness, but she’s been guest-starring in major series like Law & Order: SVU for years, while Edelstein is, of course, known for the seven years she spent on House. And now the two actresses will bring their awesomeness to CBS’s modern Sherlock Holmes series, though they won’t, unfortunately, appear in the same episode.

According to TVLine, Thorne will guest as Captain Gregson’s former partner Terry D’Amico, a veteran NYPD detective. Her appearance comes about when she and the Captain are accused of imprisoning the wrong man accused of a series of fatal home invasions. Dare I say it will be up to Mr. Holmes to prove once and for all if this man is indeed innocent of the crimes he was committed of? I think that’s a safe bet considering, you know, this is a crime procedural. A crime needs to be investigated. Otherwise we’re just watching Johnny Lee Miller walk around being better than everyone else, but with no purpose. A Sherlock Holmes without a case is a boring asshole. Thorne will show up in Episode 6.

As for Edelstein, she appears in Episode 7 as Heather Vanowen, the charismatic CEO of a high-end PR consultancy. I can say with a certainty she will be involved in a case. Holmes will be investigating a bombing that would appear to be aimed at her company. Naturally this Heather Vanowen will need to divulge whether or not her company has any enemies. It doesn’t surprise me Edelstein would be playing a CEO. She’s got this authority about her, mixed with a little bit of sexy. Okay, a lot of sexy.

About Brody Gibson

+Brody Gibson studied film in Vancouver, BC. I originally intended to become a video editor, but realized I have a passion for writing. To say I love television is a bit of an understatement. I watch it religiously, think about it constantly. To be able to talk about it is one the best things in the world. Combining that with my love of writing gives me the opportunity to express my opinions to the Internet masses and start gripping conversations.
