Glee: Will American Idol Runner-Up Jessica Sanchez Fall for Finn?

We told you this was a possibility back in June! Now it’s official, yet another American Idol contestant is set to make her move from singing to acting, but can you guess which one? There have been so many contestants over the years, it can be hard to understand why one might be chosen over the other, but once you factor in this singer will be appearing on Glee, I think it becomes clear we can narrow down the selection to only the very best singers. In this case, our actress-to-be is Jessica Sanchez, the second-place finisher of American Idol’s eleventh season. She’s a prime candidate to cover pop songs thanks to her powerful vocal abilities – and that she almost won a singing competition doing just that.
Unfortunately, while TVLine confirmed Sanchez would be recurring in Glee’s current season, there were no details to share about what role she will be playing. Ryan Murphy failed to open up about what he has in store for Sanchez, which bums me out a little bit. He was doing so well at being less secretive, but I guess that was just a phase he grew out of. Perhaps the 17-year-old singer will play the much talked about new love interest for Finn? Considering Cory Monteith – who plays Finn – is 30, I really hope not.
Sanchez had a particularly memorable time on Idol. She showed a lot of promise in the beginning of the competition, but was shockingly revealed to have received the lowest amount of votes in the Top 7 elimination. Thankfully for her, the judges weren’t about to let her go and used their only “save” to veto the vote, allowing her to continue in the competition and make it all the way to end. She might not have claimed the top spot, but she delivered a show-stealing duet with Jennifer Holliday, singing Dreamgirls’ “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” Aside from Idol, Sanchez was also a contestant on America’s Got Talent in 2006.
