Doctor Who’s Alex Kingston Travels to NCIS

Look out Doctor Who fans! Alex Kingston is making her way to the most watched and highest rated drama series on TV: NCIS. Kingston, known these days as the Doctor’s wife, River Song, will be making a welcomed appearance in a November sweeps episode, which will make good use of her wonderful on-screen persona. When you have somebody who commands attention like Kingston, the immediate reaction is to design a character that will be able to take full advantage of what she has to offer, and NCIS is doing just that. She’ll be turning things up a notch in ways only she can, making me quite excited to see exactly how they put her to work.
Kingston will be playing Miranda Pennebaker, who, according to TVLine, is a woman of questionable morals. Showrunner Gary Glasberg said she “deals in everything from high end weapons sales to priceless gems. Her connections go all the way up the ladder of D.C. politics, and Gibbs needs her for this very disturbing, emotional case.” So she is clearly wealthy and knows more than anybody ought to? That’s not a bad way to spend your time on NCIS. And she doesn’t sound like she’ll be playing a baddie, despite what her “questionable morals” might suggest. I wonder what those morals even are. Will she let people die if there’s something to gain?
The best part about being Kingston is you’re so awesome that the people you work with immediately want to work with you again. There is already talk of bringing back the character and her episode hasn’t even had a chance to air yet! She must be pretty impressive in this role. Who am I kidding? Of course she’s impressive!
Kingston’s other TV credits include, of course, Doctor Who and her time as Dr. Corday on ER, as well as Upstairs, Downstairs, Law & Order: SVU, Private Practice and FlashForward.
