Doctor Who’s David Tennant Gets His Droid On for Clone Wars

When Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs on Saturday there will be a new droid in town. His name is Huyang and his voice actor is none other than Doctor Who‘s David Tennant.
Somewhere a fan boy just exploded. The poor guy.
Dave Filoni, the cartoon’s supervising director, was responsible for the geektastic match up. “When I heard the Doctor himself, David Tennant, was a fan of Star Wars I knew I had to find a way to get in contact with him to see if he would perform on Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” said Filoni. “I thought David was perfect for the part and he did not disappoint. He delivered a performance which impressed even the Master himself, George Lucas.”
Huyang is a pretty lovable guy. As EW revealed, his job is to teach a group of Jedi younglings to unlock the mysterious ways of the Force. The old droid’s specialty; however, is the construction of lightsabers.
Even if David Tennant wasn’t David Tennant, you have to give him props for his voice acting skills. His episode is called “A Test of Strength” and you can see it for yourself on Nov. 10 at 9:30 p.m.
Tennant, who you will also know as Barty Crouch, Jr., of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, was the Tenth Doctor. He worked as Doctor Who from 2005 to 2010.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is currently in it’s 5th season. Previous special guest stars have included George Takei as Lok Durd, Spike actor James Marsters as Faro Argyus, Starbuck actress Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan, Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn, Ron Perlman as Gha Nachkt and Seth Green as Todo 360. Also actor Simon Pegg is Dengar and Battlestar Galactica/ Smallville actor Samuel Witwer is Darth Maul.
In the Nov. 3 episode, “The Gathering”, Ahsoka and Yoda took the same younglings to a cave to observe the Jedi rite of passage called, you guessed it, “The Gathering”.
