Some Disney Princesses have special abilities. I hear Sofia of Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess has an enchanted necklace bearing the Amulet of Avalor, which allows her the power to speak to animals. Sofia is also gifted in earning viewership!
THR explained that the little princess was drawing crowds of youngsters when her TV movie, Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess, became the top cable telecast among kids aged 2 to 5 in the past five years. She won over about 1.5 million. Over 1.4 million adults aged 18 to 49 demo also tuned in and over 3 million children from age 2 to 11 were watching. Of course Disney princess are especially alluring to girls and about 1 million little ladies from 2 to 5 were glued to Princess Sofia’s story.
The animated feature included voice performances by Ariel Winter, Sara Ramirez, Wayne Brady and Tim Gunn. Though speculation rose that Sofia was the first Latina princess, Disney affirms that she’s of mixed ethnic origin. Sofia’s mother is from Galadiz, a kingdom loosely based on Spain, and her birth father hailed from a kingdom loosely based on Scandinavia.
The TV movie follows Sofia as she goes from a commoner to becoming royalty when her mother remarries. There is lot’s to learn for the newly made princess and Sofia attends the Royal Prep Academy where the fairies from Sleeping Beauty; Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, teach her the dos and do not dos of her new role.
With her telecast’s success, the network can now be confident when delivering a Sofia the First series. It is scheduled for a January release. Sofia will continue to grapple with the challenges or her new found royalty and of joining a blended family. She has step-siblings!
