Meet Girl Meets World Star Rowan Blanchard – Corey & Topanga’s Kid
She’s a little bit Corey and a little bit Topanga and 100% adorable. She’s actress Rowan Blanchard and she has just won the very coveted starring role of upcoming Disney series, Girl Meets World.
Unless you’re living under a rock (and who could blame you in this economy), you have heard that the Disney Channel is making a spin-off of Boy Meets World. The original stars, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, who played youngsters Corey and Topanga, are on board to reprise their roles. They’re all grown up and have a daughter of their own. Until now that bundle of joy had not been cast.
EW took a smashing photo of our new star and I have to say she does look the part. As young as Rowan Blanchard looks, you might think she was new to acting, but you would be wrong.
From the Los Angeles area, Blanchard has already been a part of Spy Kids: All the Time in World in 4D and The Back-up Plan starring Jennifer Lopez.
Blanchard should feel pretty confident right about now. Hopefully her role will be fun and, oh yeah, she beat out hundreds of others when she was cast to play Riley Matthews after a nationwide search.
“As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews,” says Michael Jacobs, who is producing the Girl Meets World pilot. “Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.” That is some pretty high praise. It will also be nice for the young star to have Savage and Fishel around to mentor her. If anyone knows what it’s like to be a child star, it’s those two.
Production won’t begin until next month, so don’t expect to tune in over night. Girl Meets World will likely find it’s place on Disney’s 2013-14 schedule.
