Castle Sends Stana Katic Hot on the Trail of Jack Coleman’s Senator

Castle ABC

Things are about to get a little crazy on Castle as Beckett gets closer and closer to nailing the SOB responsible for the murder of her mother. This revenge has been a long time coming and the current candidate for the murderer, Senator Bracken (Jack Coleman), returns in the Feb. 4 episode, “Recoil.” Will Beckett’s thirst for vengeance be quenched or will she just tumble further down the rabbit hole? We have a ton of promo photos for the upcoming episode, but do they hold any clues for what’s coming? Have a look for yourself, but don’t look too hard; there isn’t much to see in terms of spoilers.

We already know Bracken will be back, and he does play a prominent part in the photographs; as does Beckett. But what we get here are just a series of photos of them standing around or sitting, looking intensely at each other. Clearly they’re having a discussion of grave importance, but still photos don’t speak a lot of words. Thankfully we have episode descriptions to go on in order to fill in the gaps, such as why Bracken is back and why Beckett is getting in his face. There must have been a big break that would put Bracken in a position to be arrested, right?

As it turns out, that’s exactly what’s happening in “Recoil.” It all starts with an investigation into the murder of a young woman. Castle and Beckett discover evidence which strongly links Bracken to the murder… and that’s when things get complicated. Just how and why I’m not sure. So the photos and the official episode description both let us down. Yippee! I guess ABC really doesn’t want us to be spoiled when it comes to whatever revelations this episode has for Beckett. Personally – as much as I like Jack Coleman in, well, anything – I would love to see Bracken get what’s coming to him; and if he happens to die, even better.

A villain or an ambiguous character should be used to their full extent and Jack Coleman is perfect at playing this kind of characters. The more of him, the better the show.
