Mike Tyson Gives Law & Order: SVU Guest Role A One-Two Punch
Talk about surprise casting, this juicy morsel is kind of like a sudden jab to the face. Mike Tyson is coming to an episode of Law & Order: SVU. The guest role is the former boxer’s acting debut. Watch out world.
Get this. Mike Tyson’s upcoming guest role on SVU isn’t your typical light work either. Deadline calls the part “dark” and “dramatic”. Tyson will bring to life a character by the name of Reggie Rhodes. Rhodes is a murderer sentenced to death. What put the man on that terrible path? Indications are, he’s the result of an atrocious childhood. Stories like his are probably a dime a dozen in the New York penal system, but either way, his particular case will grab the attention of Detective Benson and defense attorney Bayard Ellis, whose recurring role comes from Last Resort actor Andre Braugher.
Another actor will also feature in Tyson’s debut episode. That is Ed Asner.
Mike Tyson is no stranger to the big and small screen. He’s had cameos in Who’s The Boss, Entourage and Breaking In, and, of course, on The Hangover, but this time we get to see him flex some acting muscle. This could be very interesting. Do you smell a new career on the horizon?
January 9th’s season 14 episode, titled “Beautiful Frame” was episode 306 for the long-running Dick Wolf series. The episode is noteworthy because it reeled in about 8.3 million viewers, marking a season high.
As we previously reported, Nia Vardalos, The Young and the Restless star Victoria Rowell, Fred Norris of The Howard Stern Show, The Shield‘s Jay Karnes and The Matrix Reloaded actor Harold Perrineau are coming to a season 14 episode of SVU. Marcia Gay Harden is also making a much anticipated return to her guest role.
