Fox’s Robot Cop Drama Lures Minka Kelly
Former Friday Night Lights actress Minka Kelly will be transported to the near future thanks to Fox. She’s all set to join the network’s exciting new robot cop drama pilot.
You heard it right here when we announced the new J.J. Abrams project, which reunites his Bad Robot label with J.H. Wyman of the supernatural series, Fringe. There is no title yet for the futuristic drama which revolves around a hardened, insensitive human cop and his robot partner who seems to know more about humanity than he does.
Cutie, Michael Ealy has been cast as the robot and now we’re pleased to announce Minka Kelly’s involvement in the pilot.
Deadline revealed the American actress who had the small role of Autumn in (500) Days of Summer and also recurred as Gabby on Parenthood would be joining what the media news source calls an “action-packed buddy cop show”. Kelly’s character is Valerie Stahl. Though no longer on the beat, Valerie is a former a cop with a “strong moral compass” who still tries to see the best in all situations.
Could Valerie be a love interest for the male lead? We haven’t heard of that part being cast yet, by the way. The character’s name, however is John Kennex. His robot partner is called Dorian.
Minka Kelly has some other projects on the burner. She’ll appear as Jackie Kennedy in film called The Butler, due out later this year. Yes, you heard right. She’s playing THE Jackie Kennedy. How would you like that role on your resume? Her casting in that part certainly speaks to Kelly’s beauty.
At any rate, we can’t wait to hear more casting for this Los Angeles centric futuristic cop drama from Warner Bros. TV.
