This fall on the CW, paranormal series The Originals and Supernatural should draw in huge numbers when it comes to viewers. Both shows, one a newcomer, the other enjoying an impressive 9th season kick-off, are coming to Tuesdays in the CW line-up, but their debuts have been held back by one week. We’ll explain why.
Premiere week for the CW’s fall offerings begins on October 7. October is certainly a fall month, but the 7th comes two full weeks after what’s know as the official broadcast premiere week. What’s the hold up? It’s all a part of the strategy to win and keep viewers.
The network plans to delay its fall launch to avoid competition with the sheer excitement coming on in the wake of so many other series and season debuts. Any network’s goal is to be watched. By delaying their launches, some of this excitement has died down and if another series caught your eye, you’ve already seen it and hopefully will choose to tune in to the CW.
This strategy worked for the CW last fall.
As you’ll notice below in the full line-up schedule, October 7 is the premier date for most of the CW’s content. The Tuesday duo is the exception. The Originals and Supernatural are coming October 16th.
The delay will ensure that the two shows don’t have to compete with snazzy ABC offering, Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD. I certainly wouldn’t want to come up against a campaign that big either. Ratings count! Without further ado, here’s the full list of premiers.
